Jenny Arussi, MS, RDN is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and obesity expert in delivering medically-based weight loss interventions. Jenny brings with her a wealth of clinical experience from treating thousands of patients at Cedars-Sinai’s Center for Weight Loss and The Diabetes Outpatient Treatment and Education Center. As one of Cedar’s top level dietitians for over 10 years, Jenny had the rare opportunity to develop and evolve the pre + post-bariatric and weight management programming. Working with surgeons, physicians, social workers and other weight loss professionals, Jenny quickly became the go-to dietitian for patients with serious doubts of their ultimate weight loss success.
Jenny learned early on the challenge of resisting the urge to eat to deal with uncomfortable feelings as well as managing smaller portions of food. She started becoming aware of the implications of unhealthy eating by witnessing her own steady weight gain in addition to her father’s own struggle with obesity. Being the problem-solver that she is, she pursued a Bachelor’s of Science in Dietetics + Food Administration as well as Master’s Degree in Human Nutrition in hopes of finding solutions to the disease of obesity. She regularly attends professional trainings on this topic through the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery + The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. As a result of her skills and expertise, Jenny has been invited on numerous occasions to present her research findings and experience to physicians and clinicians on the topics of obesity interventions and bariatric nutrition.
Known and appreciated for her empathetic, straightforward manner, Jenny’s methods guide her clients through the process of changing their eating through education, problem-solving and accountability. In her individual and group sessions, Jenny conveys the importance of accountability through regular contact and consistent self-monitoring. Through technology, nutrition and weight surveillance and appointments can be conducted in the comfort of your own home or office. Together, Jenny and her clients work to create attainable lifestyle changes for lasting weight loss and good health.
Session: Saturday 2:30pm – 3:20pm, Royal A
Do I Really Need to Measure & Track Forever?
You may have been asked by your physician and/or dietitian to track what you are eating before and after weight loss surgery. While we all can appreciate the benefits of tracking, the question remains “is this behavioral practice necessary lifelong?” How do you know when to utilize this tool? Is there ever a time when you don’t have to track and if so, when? Please join Jenny for a facilitated interactive exploration of this important topic.
